RULES AND INFORMATION

Welcome to the 2007 URSULA VEIT MEMORIAL GLWSL SOCCERFEST.  The following rules will be in effect during the tournament. The tournament will be played in accordance with FIFA rules, except where modified by these rules. It is the responsibility of the coach and/or team manager to have their players and fans conduct themselves, according to the rules, while on the tournament site. Please make sure all teams/players compete in the spirit of the game and according to the laws of the game.

Team Registration: Team registration will be held on Friday, June 22nd at the Coach/Manager’s meeting.  Those teams not able to register at the meeting will register at the Independence Soccer Complex one (1) hour before the start of your first scheduled game.  All teams must bring 3 copies of their team roster, a valid USASA Passcard, or the Canadian equivalent, for each player on the roster. For the players without passcards, which have registered with the State of Michigan, bring a copy of their driver’s license.  No players can be added to the roster after the first game.  Team photos, to be posted on our website, will be taken before your first game.  Please make sure your players arrive one (1) hour before your first game.

Number of players:  Each team may roster and suit-up a max of 22 players for each match.  A rostered player shall present their USASA Passcards, the Canadian equivalent, or their driver’s license to the referee, prior to the start of each game in the competition.  The game card, with each players name and number, shall be given to the referee before each game.

Age Eligibility:  For a player to be eligible for an age group, they must turn that age within the present year.  No underage players are permitted.  A player can be rostered on more than one team, but not in the same age group.

Length of Games:  During preliminary rounds and finals, all age groups will play two (2) thirty-five (35) minute halves, with a ten (10) minute halftime.  In the event the score of any game in a preliminary match is tied at the end of regulation play, the tie score will stand.  In the event a semi-final or final match is tied at the end of regulation play, a twenty (20) minute overtime period, which is divided into two (2) periods of ten (10) minutes, shall be played.  The first team to score in overtime wins (Golden Goal).  In the event the score is tied at the end of the overtime period, the winner shall be determined by FIFA penalty kicks.  If, for any reason, a game is not completed, the Soccerfest Tournament Committee shall decide the disposition of the game.

Playing of the Game:

  • Players must wear numbers on their jerseys, and shin guards
  • When jersey colors are similar the home team will change. The home team will be the team listed first on the schedule.
  • Any hard brace must be wrapped or covered with a soft material.
  • No slide tackling, including goalkeepers.  Referees are to use an automatic Yellow Card
  • Coaches, players, and spectators should always use good sportsmanship during the tournament.
  • All decisions by the referee are final. There will be no protests.

Substitutions:   Substitutions are unlimited and may be made at the following times, with the permission of the referee:

  • Goal kick by either team.
  • Throw in, during your own possession.
  • After a goal is scored, by either team.
  • Half time or start of overtime periods.
  • Injury, with an equal opportunity given to the opposing team.
  • When a player receives a yellow card, but only for the player receiving the card and at the time that the card is issued.

 

 

Scoring System: The scoring for Soccerfest will be based on a ten (10) point system.:

In each preliminary game, a team shall be awarded six (6) points for a win, three (3) points for a tie, one (1) point for a shutout, and one (1) point for each goal (win or lose) max of three (3) points.  The max number of possible points is ten (10) per game.  Forfeits score as 1-0 with eight (8) points awarded.

Tie Breaking Procedure:  The following sequence shall be used to break ties in the standings.  For a three or more way tie, after the first tie is broken the tiebreaker shall start at the beginning of the sequence to break the next tie.

Yellow and Red Cards:   Any player that receives a caution (yellow card) during a game must be substituted for immediately. They can come back into the game at the next available substitution for their team. Two cautions (yellow cards) received by a player in the same game constitute a red card. Any player or coach that is removed from a game for a red card is done for that game and their teams next scheduled game. They must leave the playing area, immediately, and they can attend the next game as a spectator.

Inclement Weather:  The tournament committee will do everything possible to play all the games. However, we cannot control the weather. The tournament committee will not allow a game to be played in inclement weather, where there is a possibility of injury to players, and severe damage to the fields. In the event of inclement weather, the tournament committee has the authority to:

  • Relocate or reschedule any game.
  • Change the duration of any game. Preliminary games terminated for weather, after the half, will be considered official.
  • Cancel any preliminary game, which has no bearing on the selection of the playoff teams.
  • Cancel the entire tournament for the safety of the players, and the good of the playing fields.

Forfeits:  Game time is forfeit time!!!  No grace period will be given.  If a team has seven (7) players at the scheduled game time, the game will start.  The score of a forfeited game will be 1-0

A team using an ineligible player, shall forfeit that game, but may continue in the tournament with their eligible players.

Protests:  There will not be any protests allowed. The decision of the referees and the tournament committee will be final.

General Tournament Information:  The Tournament Committee is responsible for team acceptance, tournament format, game scheduling, and referee assignment.  The tournament is not responsible for any expenses incurred by any team, in the event the tournament is canceled in whole or part due to the weather, or in the event games are discontinued, or canceled due to forfeit. Any refunds made, due to a cancellation, will be at the discretion of the Tournament Committee. 

Alcoholic beverages are prohibited in the soccer park, and this will be enforced.

Due to the nature of the game, players run the risk of injury, and should be aware of that prior to participation.  The Great Lakes Women’s Soccer League, its assigns, referees, the sponsors, and the managers are not responsible for player injury resulting from participation in this tournament.
