2005 GLWSL ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The meeting was called to
order by league president Christine Lussier at 11:45am on February 6,
2005. Team managers were reminded to
sign in. The minutes from last year=s meeting were read and approved.
Michigan Soccer Association
Comments: Gerhard Mengel (president of MSA) thanked the GLWSL. Al Pugliese said that our registrar will
handle our paperwork & cards. He
will handle only Cup registrations. He
must initial rosters for teams traveling out of state. Reminders: use the release form, get an A
form for every player, every year. Use
special rosters for tournaments.
Dyann Pugliese (MSA
treasurer) thanked Pat Mathieu and Nancy Soisson for doing the audit. The state is in the process of developing a
new web site (misoccer.net).
Question: how do we handle
dual registration (MUSL and GLWSL)? Use
one passcard with two stickers.
Committee Reports: Christine
Lussier, President, reported on red and yellow cards issued. She explained the referee scheduling
process. She said that web site
development (improvement) is a priority.
Rich Henderson, Vice
President, reported that there are 3 GLWSL members on the MSA board. He will be contacting youth clubs (U18) to
expand the league.
Ruth Tiplady, Registrar,
reported that some teams missed the very important registration meeting. She stressed the importance of starting early
to get A forms signed. You can email her
for cards/stickers. If your roster is filled, send names of
prospective players to Ruth and she will try to find a team for them.
Becky Widlak, Secretary, had
no report.
Nancy Soisson, Treasurer,
explained the budget (copy attached).
Pat Mathieu reported that
most yellow cards were for unsporting conduct and playing out of control. She is missing a number of game reports which
makes it impossible to keep good records.
There are 17 laws to the game.
Know them and bring your common sense to the game. Call Pat if you have any concerns about refs
(she does an excellent job as liaison).
Cindy Dillon, member at large,
is looking for ideas for prizes for division champions. Price range, about $10 per player; send your
ideas to the web site.
Unfinished business: should
we add an over 40 division or expand over 30 to three division?
Can we schedule recreational
mid-week games? The expansion of the
over 30 division depends on the number of teams.
Election of board members:
The following were elected unanimously:
Rich
Henderson - Vice President
Ruth
Tiplady - Registrar
Cindy
Dillon - member at large
Pam
Brucker - Secretary (Becky Widlak cannot continue in this position)
Rosanne
Townsley - member at large
Ed
Dudek - scheduler
New Business: Charges for
subs? $33 at least to cover their registration costs.
Can one player play for two
teams (in 2 divisions)?
There was much discussion
about this. Players would have to
declare one team as primary, one as secondary.
A motion was made to allow this, but it was defeated by a show of hands.
Good of the game: Redford
Union H.S. is looking for a JV soccer coach (call Pat Mathieu).
Marian H.S. is starting a
girls freshman team.
Kathy Coyne is working on a
fall tournament in Saginaw (end of September).
Is anyone interested in
working on Soccerfest 2005? Rosanne,
Amy & Celeste volunteered.
The meeting was adjourned at
1:15pm.
