3/27 Hi, I have really made some headway on packing. Cindi (Gorton) came tonight to help out. She'll be here til Friday. Everything is just about ready. We have ordered a hospital bed, it is coming to the new house in the morning. We settle at 3:30. Dallas, Devan and I and mayabe Gary, depending, are going to stay at the house...just camp out. They are excited about moving. Gary has really had some pretty crappy days. He has had increased pain and shortness of breath. He is a little jaundiced today. His color in general is horrible. He has pretty much slept most of the day. Did get up twice. Tried to shave...then bathe, only got to the shave part and had to lay down. Tuckered him right out. He was in a lot of pain as well. He is drinking, and eating a little today. He started back on the Decadron today, (steroid). It will help him with his inflammation that the tumors are causing. He may get some releif once his levels (of the steroid) get built up in his body. This morning around 1:30 he had some pretty bad breakthrough pain, he couldn't even get up...I had to help this morning. Gary and I were baptized yesterday, here in our home by our pastor, Rev. Cooke. We asked a lot of questions about what he thought about what happens 'after'. He is or was worried a little... As you may know, he is a little skeptical about it all... his beliefs. Nothing tangible there, you have to have faith. He's learning. I'm proud of him. He hopes there is no pain there...We have reassured him that there isn't, it will be magnificent. It was overall a wonderful visit. Am I rambling? My mind is. We were baptized. Wow. I need some rest. Take care, God bless Gary. Love, Shelly
APRIL 1st, 2002 Well, where have I been? First, I forgot to link this page last week, again... Second, I have tried to log on and wasn't able to access Yahoo page builder...and we moved. So, here we are! It's like we've lived here for years! Absolutely incredible. The amount of people that showed up Friday. Unbelievable. They moved us, unpacked us, hung our pictures and vaccummed (how do you spell that?) our floor, 3x! They even made our beds up! Beautiful. Cindi and my sister Amy unpacked my kitchen, it was like trading spaces...in every room. I love it! Stacey, Gayle, Cindy, Yu'nein...they were like little mommies to me. Just great. We were done by, I believe it was 5:00 maybe 6:00 pm. They guys from Overnite showed up at 8:00am and the people just kept coming. No one can believe how much stuff we had in that trailer and our 2 sheds. It went off without a hitch. Jeff, Joe and Larry dug holes and put in our sign and a flag pole...Jeff bought the flag pole. So the kicker in it all? Gary started the Decadron last week, it's a steriod that takes away inflammation and tends to give you energy..remember, he was on it a bit back and he ate for 2 weeks and gained 20 pounds? Well, he got up that morning, I bathed him, we came here where his new bed awaited him...nice hospital bed. Designer, I'm sure. I know you wish you had one! It's electric too. Anyway, when the first crazies got here, (Overnite crew) he actually got up, walked up stairs showed them around and went back to bed. No wait, it gets better. Afternoon time, everyone is here (2nd Overnite crew and Stockley crew) and doesn't he get up and come outside, grabs a peice of pizza, a beer and sits down on the porch like he knows what he's doing? I couldn't believe it. He was looking pretty rough near the end of last week...jaundiced, lips were blue...looking a little lost for words I was. And here is eating pizza, sitting on the deck. No, he didn't finish the beer, about a 1/4 of it! Killin me. Then he snoozes for awhile, then decides Lance is going to take him to Lowes to buy new locks for the door, and if circut city has it, he's going there to buy a new TV. Huh? Okay, whatever you say, go for it. So he leaves. I still can't belive it. Sherri, Joe, Larry and Jennfier (Sherri's friend) show up from NY, and I say, sorry your brother's not here. Now mind you, Larry was just here last week, he saw Gary. That crushed him up a bit, then he comes to see him and help and he's gone. Too funny. Bud and Pat showed up too, shocked. Anyway, Everyone settles us, my pictures look great Rodney! And his family is here and Gary is in the living room, picking on Larry and joking with everyone like normal. It was so nice. The girls are doing fine...we are all wore out really. Hard transition for them and for me. I'm a little hyper and loud and they have been with family...you know getting there own way, spoiled. So they come home and there is a little whinning going on. But we are working through it. They love it here. The yard is huge. Front is bigger than the back. We've clipped tree limbs, moved rocks, found and hmmm, killed our first snake. It's been just like a dream. The weather has been nice, cool crisp mornings. It smells so good. Can't believe how well this place is insulated...the heater never runs. It's just perfect, or almost. A dream starting and a dream ending. My mind and my heart are going none stop. Up, down, up, down. Elation, devastation. It's a little hard to manage, but I'm tryin'...all I can do, is all I can do and I keep on tryin. There's always a mountain in front of me, seems I'm always climbin', but..I'm tryin. Yep, Trace Adkins. Okay, it's so peaceful here, I'm off to find some. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Til next time...Shel-lyn.

4/5/02Well, today is Friday. DeDe, Devan and I are off to Trap Pond. We are going camping in a cabin there. The reservations were for my in-laws, and they are unable to attend,so I thought what the hay..we'll go. Gary and I both thought he would be able to go, but he is not feeling well. Maybe tomorrow for a short while. Trap is only 10 minutes from here, so we will check on him frequently, in case you are wondering. This is Dallas's last day of spring vacation. She is very anxious to go camping. She deserves it, it has been a hard transition. So we will go stay in the cabin, make a fire, ride some bike and read and love one another...I hope. Might be some yelling here and there and probably some whinnin', but dear God I hope not. I'm feeling a little, funny. But, I'll be fine...I'm on deck, the plates almost mine, I'll swing hard. Hey, the best thing about being on deck? Seeing Mike Piazza from behind! Ha, ha. Hope you have a great weekend. It's up, it's down, that's here. Til next time, love Shelly
4/13/02 My goodness, is the week over with yet? It has been a very busy week. Camping was good, but I was cranky. One of my all time favorites, Laurie, came to stay a few days. It was wonderful. Me, Laurie and Gary had a super day Friday. He cut up with us for awhile. Actually, we woke him up. I just figured if we played something he liked maybe he would get up. It worked. The Bellemy Brothers wasn't cuttin' it. So I played some of our favorites...Kiss, Dokken, Warrent, The Cult. Anyway, it was nice. Then none of us slept. Just restless I guess. Gary has quite a bit of pain the last few days, more yesterday and today. Starting to double up on meds. His mental status is good. He just has a hard time getting comfortable and falling asleep. Vomiting tonight after bath, he's getting really good at this. Gettin some power behind it, but he'll never surpass me! LOL. I was pretty down last week...tired. Mad, lonely, anxious. Feeling pretty decent today. I must admit, I 'm having a problem sleeping. I fall asleep, wake up and can't get back to sleep. Thank you for you thoughts, I feel them Love and Laughter, Shelly
