When I was a boy, he said to me,
remember my words, don't lie to me.
do the best that you can in all that you do,
remember my rules, keep them close to you.
If you stumble and fall along the way,
come to me, I'll know what to say.
I'll lift you up,wipe away your tears,
I'll hold your hand as you face your fears.
what ever your problems, big or small,
bring them to me,I'll fix them all.
sometimes I forget as time goes by,
but I'll never forget my fathers eye's
as I grew older, I went astray,
broke all of his rules, done things my way.
my mind filled with anger,
my eye's filled with shame,
in my heart, I know I'm to blame.
The people I've hurt, the things I've done,
I'm full of grief, and I can't go on.
I found myself drinking, in my right hand a gun,
time to pay for the damage I've done.
I heard a loud voice, and I threw down the gun,
fell to my knee's, cried out to the son.
He said, remember my words ,don't die on me.
you did the best that you could, you came to me.
you stumbled and fell along the way,
and now your heald, your forgiven today.
I have lifted you up, wipe away your tears,
I'm holding your hand, and erasing your fears.
no more problems, big or small,
you've brought them to me, I've taking them all.
sometimes you forget as time goes by,
you almost forgot your fathers eye's !!
