Some Stuff About Me
I'm 21 and from Gulf Shores, Alabama.  I'll be 22 in November.  I don't think I have the accent associated with my home.  I have tried my whole life to get rid of it.  I think I have had much success, but I have been told I still speak Southern.  Oh well.  I'm in the Alabama National Guard.  I am part of Co. C. 711th Signal Battalion.  We are kinda like the phone company.  We run a switchboard of sorts.  We don't patch calls like the old operators had to do.  Thank god we have machines to do that for us now.

I'm a 31 Lima.  Most people call me a Wire Dog.  I run telephone wire and internet cables.  Sometimes we have to dig trenches to run the wire under the road and sometimes we have to hang wire over roads.  It's not hard, well, it depends on how you look at it.  As long as you remember how to tie all your knots you should be okay.  We climb poles and all that good stuff.  I am currently cross-training as a 31 Foxtrot.  That is a Switch Operator.  I basically sit in a shelter that has been placed on the back of a Hummer and monitor a screen for long periods of time.  An example of what I do in the rig is:  If someones phone service went out, I would go through the interface of screens and mark them back in service.  Sometimes the whole network can go down and you have to reboot the station.  That's a long process and it stinks.  It's not as easy as it sounds, but it's not hard either.  I'm still learning how to do it, though.

I'll add more stuff about me later.
