| Testeagles Non Comprehendus Krell, 2000 Gloon: I first saw these local boys in 97 opening for Helmet at Heaven II and from what I remembered they were loud, heavy and metal. So when I heard that they had a new album out last year I thought what the hell and picked it up, what I got was frustrating shit. Non Comprehendus somes up this album perfectly, it is the biggest genre hoping bollocks I have heard in a long while, switching between total rap (Rebel, Renegade) to soft commercial pop (Just Another Pop Song, Ocean) to White Zombie, Fear Factory Hybrids (Like No Other, Non Comprehendus). The tragedy is that it could have been half decent, the riffs and samples used on songs such as Underdog and Hammerdrill are as good as any that Rob Zombie and Co. have put together over the years and Clone is actually a pretty fucking good song. However rap and faggot rock aside the real killer for me is the vocals, arrrrrgggghhhhh fuck, what were they thinking whinny English punk sneers and unenthusiastic chants (Turn That Shit Up) kill this album more than a special guest appearance from Fred Durst ever could have. Just listen to the vocals on Clone and you will be asking your self why? A disappointing release from a band that I thought, should have known better. Favourite Track - Clone Mark 4/10 |
