Lothlorien  'The Primal Event'
Black Mark , 1998
Lord Pale :
Lothlorien hail from Sweden and like In Flames , play a brand of rocky melodic death metal but incorporate huge amounts of synth reminscent of both Nightwish and Enslavement Of Beauty . However , Lothlorien lack In Flames' ability to add a bit of technicality to their music and play a a much reduced tempo , sitting in slow to mid paced realms . The Primal Event is graced with a great cover booklet and the artwork looks original and unique , but upon opening the booklet to discover the band photos of what appears to be a bunch of drunken young college nerds , one can't help but be put off a little . Lyrically , the band also don't seem very adept , this coupled with the grating , unvarying , flemmy blackmetal rasps points Lothlorien's career in the direction of a very short and uninfluential one . Occasionally they come up with some catchy tunes and some passable songs , but the album as a whole sounds very samey and annoying after a while . If however this area of In Flames inspired clone bands happens to be your thing , then  I suggest that you go check out bands like Gardenain instead , because there's not much enjoyment here to be had .
