| Anarazel 'Rise Of The Tempest' Self Released , 1999 Lord Pale : New Australian blackmetal 4 track mini-cd combining the best elements of Sacramentum and traditional black riffing . Extreme blackened vocals grate over driven melodic riffing incorporating many tempo and timing changes with great lead work . Deep spoken vocal passages lament abyssal lyrics during the slower parts of the Tempest and the drum work is great with lots of variation and double kicks . I am amazed that these guys aren't signed and even more stupefied that such world class melodic deathmetal comes from a collective of just 3 members . Any fans of Swedish melodic death or Immortal style blackmetal take heed and hunt down this masterpiece at once ! Favourite Tracks - All of them ! Mark - 9/10 Anarazel 'Devil Hymns' Self Released , 2000 Lord Pale : What the fuck happened here ? Anarazel return with a new 3 track mini cd that sees a vast change in their musical style . Opener 'Hatred' lasts a mere 1:39 and 1:10 of that is an atmospheric intro before a drum track breaks in introducing seconds later a short burst of guitars and vocals which all sounds rather muted when compared to 'Rise Of The Tempest' . The second track 'Enochain Christfuck' flirts with the realms of punk styled deathmetal riffing that lacks the melodic elements and the inspired song writing of yore and includes some rather expected anti-christian lyrics like 'Fuck you Jesus Christ' . The third and final track 'Coven Of Ghouls' is allegedly a Morbid Angel tribute track made up mainly of Morbid Angel styled riffing and lyrics of Morbid Angels song titles woven together loosely with some filler lyrics . Not a bad release in it's own right , just a poor loss of form for a band who held alot of potential . Favourite Tracks - Enochain Christfuck Mark - 6/10 |
