a Learner

During the summer of 2001, I took a class on computer
imaging at James
Madison University.
-
I took an
online
class in teaching weather. The members of the class met at the Oxnard
Weather Station .
-
On the weekend of March 5, 6, & 7, 1999, I
attended the California League of Middle Schools. I was most impressed
with Big Bear Middle School's
technology network and Mary
B. Reid's use of the internet for instructional purposes.

I
went to an inservice at Belmont High School on December 12, 1998, to prepare
to show teachers how to develop web pages.
-
I attended Project FIT (Forestry Institute for
Teachers) from July 19 to 25, 1998, at Humboldt State University.

On
January 11,
12,
13,
14,
& 15
of 1998, I watched PBS on KCET
channel 28 and took part on an on-line program called Science
Odyssey.
-
I took a class from
the
Jet
Propulsion Laboratory on teaching Space
Science during the summer of 1997. For the class,
we read
StarDate
magazine. Some of the students learned to create their own web
pages. On July 24, we went to Mt.
Wilson Observatory and saw a solar
telescope .We
followed the Mars
Pathfinder mission.

I
have been exposed to FSEA (Future
Scientists & Engineers of America). I hope to encourage the start of
a chapter at El Sereno
Middle School.
