Schwinn Corvette (~1957)
First Bike
My very first bike was a Schwinn Corvette. My brother, Ron, and I had the same style bikes. His was a little bigger than mine. I had a terrible time learning to ride it. I thought that I would never get into riding bikes. Boy! Was I wrong!
1967 Suzuki X6
Suzuki X6X6 engine and trans
The Suzuki X6 was the fourth motorbike that I owned, but it was the first one that I loved. For all of that, it tried to kill me often. It was a wonder that my parents ever let me have it.
Suzuki and the motorcycle magazines claimed that it was the fastest production motorcycle in the world, in the quarter mile. They said that it went from 0 to 60 mph in 6 seconds and would do the quarter mile in under 15. It had a 250 cc two cylinder, two stroke engine with 29 horsepower and the first 6 speed transmission in a motorbike.
1971 Honda K1
Cafe Racer

After  I got out of the Air Force and was going to college, I bought and modified this 1971 Honda K1 750 cc motorcycle.
This style of bike was called a cafe racer. In the old days, if we wanted one of those fancy, lay down, rockets, we had to fix them up ourselves. I took the bike apart to paint it in Honda's racing colors. I tried a couple of lowered handlebar styles. I drilled holes in the front brakes to make them lighter. I set the foot pegs back.

Schwinn Voyager (~1985)
Schwinn
I've had a few bicycles in my time too. This Schwinn has held up for quite a few years. I can only estimate that I've ridden it about 2,000 miles. I may be way off. I did take two rides that were about 100 miles in a day. I used to ride it to Sierra Vista Elementary School about twice a week. I still try to ride it once in a while.
1979 Honda GL1000
Goldwing

I used to laugh that a Goldwing was an old man's bike. Well, now that I'm an old man...
The GL was a comfortable and very dependable motorcycle that I used mostly for long rides. In 1987, I rode this bike to the east coast. I went to Washington DC to see the Constitution on its 200th birthday. I didn't go the shortest way, because I wanted to go through national parks and see all kinds of neat stuff. If you're good, I'll show you pictures from that trip.
My wife, Stevie, and I took it out on rides on most weekends.

2001 Honda GL1800
Gl1800
I bought a new Goldwing in May. My  good friend and fellow teacher, Mr. Larry Glenn, gave me a ride to Huntington Honda to pick it up. My teacher friends tend to have the same days off that I do. The weather wasn't very good. I had only ridden the "Stallion" 18 miles when I found myself riding in the rain.
I am getting used to the feel of a new bike and learning the many space age controls. I am looking forward to many miles of pleasurable riding with my wife as well as a few years of making payments.

Passadena Motorcycle Club
I have recently joined the Pasadena Motorcycle Club.
