Ana Hernandez, Architect
About me
In my eleven years as an architect, I have always strived for excellence and efficiency in design. While the building's function is the first priority, I've always worked towards creating spaces that move beyond function and have a positive impact on those that use them. I have had the good fortune of practicing architecture for zoo and aquarium facilities for seven of the ten years since being certified to practice architecture.

I graduated from San Buenaventura University in Cali, Colombia in 1994. After working for three years on various projects, I was employed by the Cali Zoo. As Director of the Infrastructure Department, my responsibilities include the management and supervision of all design, construction and maintenance projects for the zoo. Highlights of my work at the zoo include creating a facilities master plan, and designing major exhibits and support buildings.

It has been a great opportunity for me to have the experience as both designer and head of maintenance, because I have the ability to have a first hand look at how design concepts perform in a high traffic, demanding zoo environment.

I look forward to expanding my horizons by acquiring a challenging position where I can utilize my extensive experience in design.
