M12SEF: Sulawesi Expedition, 12 Days (Depart Mondays, Tour with Engl. speaking Guide)         

Day 01: Manado - Tomohon         

Minahasa, the hinterland of Manado, is extremely mountainous (Mt.Klabat, the highest peak, stands at 1995m or

6000 ft). The upland hills are covered with rice fields, clove trees, vanilla and other crops. This tour will take you

to visit some beautiful places of Minahasa. Tinoor is the first stop where you can admire the beautiful view of

Manado city from 500m above the sea level. Tomohon - a beautiful flower city- lies between two active volcanoes

known by its Bukit Inspirasi, means Inspiration Hill, which is used by the Christian churches gather for meeting or

conferences. Linow is a changing color lake at Lahendong village, Pulutan a traditional pottery making village, than to the beautiful lake Tondano. Afternoon continued to Tondano, the capital of Minahasa regency, then to Sawangan village, which has the largest collections of an ancient sarcophagus or Waruga. Dating from as early as the 9th Century, the Waruga are rectangular stone burials of ancient Minahasa's tribe. (B,L,D)         

Day 02: Tomohon - Dumoga Bone         

A scenic drive to Dumoga Bone National Park passing Sonder, Rambang, Amuramg, Motoling, Tampaso, Madoinding, Kota Mobagu and late afternoon Dumoga Bone National Park and overnight at PPA Camp, the rangers lodge. (B,L,D)         

Day 03: Dumoga Bone         

Full day to explore the beautiful lush rain forest of Dumoga Bone National Park. (B,L,D)         

Day 04: Dumoga Bone - Gorontalo         

A scenic drive passing Maelang, Pimpi, Bolangiting, Kwandang and in the afternoon arriving in Gorontalo, a nice and quite city where beautiful old Dutch houses still remain. (B,L,D)         

Day 05: Gorontalo - Moutong         

Morning city tour of Gorontalo visiting the fishermen village to see the activities of local people at the fish market, then visit an old Portuguese, Dutch and Japanese Fort Otanaha located on a hill with view to Lake Limboto.   

Continue journey to Moutong passing Isimu, Paguyangan, Paguat, Marisa, Lemito, Popayanto. Late afternoon arriving in Moutong, a small town located at the border of North and Central Sulawesi. (B,L,D)         

Day 06: Moutong - Tanjung Karang or Palu

Early morning leaving Moutong for Palu, the capital city of Central Sulawesi Province. Along the way passing beautiful views of Bone bay and the Monument of Equator at Sinai village, Palasa, Tinombo, Ampibabo, Toboli, Tawaeli. Arrive at Palu late in the afternoon. Accomodation will be provided at Tanjung Karang beach resort or the city of Palu. (B,L,D)         

Day 07: Tanjung Karang         

A full day to relax on a beautiful beach resort where you are able to sunbathe, swim, snorkel and dive. Snorkeling and diving equipment is available for rent. (B,L,D)         

Day 08: Tanjung Karang - Tentena         

A long drive to Pale to Tentena passing Tawaeli, Toboli, Parigi,Poso, Tabalu. In the afternoon arriving in Tentena, a peaceful small town near the Lake Poso, (B,L,D)     

Day 09: Tentena - Pendolo         

A day tour to explore the surrounding of Lake Poso. Visit Saluopa Waterfall, a beautiful terrace waterfall in a small rain forest. To reach the waterfall we will have a leisure walk for about 3 km along the beautiful rice field where the local people are working. Then visit Bancea National Orchid Garden, a natural orchid garden located in front of the lake. Take your swimming wear and try the very fresh water. Lunch box will be provided here. In the afternoon arriving Pendolo, a nice resort in front of Lake Poso, the second largest lake in Indonesia.

Day 10: Pendolo - Rantepao         

A scenic drive to Rantepao passing Wotu, Bone-Bone, Masamba, Sabbang. Along the way you will pass picturesque scenery with winding road. Lunch will be provided at simple local restaurant en-route. (B,L,D)         

Day 11: Torajaland         

Start to explore the Toraja culture, visiting the cliff tombs at Lemo, the royal tombs at Suaya, the burial cave at Sayuan, the baby grave on the tree at Sanggala. A luncheon is set at a restaurant, the continue the tour to family compound with typical Toraja houses at Siguntu and the burial cave with effigies of noblemen at Londa. (B,L,D)         

Day 12: Torajaland - Ujung Pandang         

A long drive to Ujung Pandang about 8 hours passing by Bugis villages with their distinctive stilt houses, through magnificent scenery and mountain range. Upon arriving in Ujung Pandang directly transfer to airport. (B,L)
