Man and Woman

The history of Greece can be traced back to Stone Age hunters. Later came early farmers and the civilizations of the Minoan and Mycenaean kings. This was followed by a period of wars and invasions, known as the Dark Ages. In about 1100 BC, a people called the Dorians invaded from the north and spread down the west coast. In the period from 500-336 BC Greece was divided into small city states, each of which consisted of a city and its surrounding countryside. Hestia is Zeus sister. She is a virgin goddess. Hera is Zeus wife and sister.Shea is the supreme goddess, goddess of marriage and childbirth and takes special care of married women. Ares is the son of Zeus and Hera.He is the god of war.

If a father didn't like the baby he would leave it on a hill to die. The daughter didn't meet the husband until the day of the wedding. One of the great paradoxes of history is that the next hesitant advance of European civilization - the development of the first city-states - took place not on the fertile open central European plains, but in a remote island to the south of the Aegean Sea which was completely lacking in metal resources. While the glittering mounted warrior-princes of central Europe dissipated their creative energy in warefare, a highly cultured yet peaceful society, built on trade and an agricultural surplus, emerged on Crete.

The weddings will be celebrated at night. The bride will walk fron her home to her future husbands house. Her family followed the chariot on foot, carrying the gifts. During the wedding ceremony, the bride will eat an apple or another fruit, to show that food and other basic needs would now come from her husband. Their gifts might include basic things like baskets, furniture, jewelry, mirrors, perfume, and vases filled with greenery. The friends and family will walk in front of the bride carrying torches and playing music to sacare evil spirits.

They had almost nothing in common they were treated differently. The women had limited freedom. They could attend weddings, funerals, some religious festivals, and could visit female neighbors for brief periods of time. Their job was to have everything in order and take care of their children. The men were almost never in their home. They were always busy working or attending to drinking parties. When they were at the drinking parties their wives and daughters were not allowed. If you were a girl you had to stay in your home until you get married. Helping your mother was their job, they will help in fields if necessary. The boys stayed at home, helping in the fields, sailing, and fishing. At age 61 or 7, they went to school. The men, women the same as boys and girls were not treated equally.
