Greece is realy famous.They invented a game called Athleti contests and held them in honor to their gods.They also had another one called Isthmos game that they'll play it every two years at the Isthmos of Corinth.I also discovered that the most famous games were at Olympia,it's a town in southwestern Greece.But all the Olympian or Olympic Games started in 776 BC,but were held every four years in honor of Zeus,the king of the mythical Greek gods.But the bad thing that no women were allowed to watch the games.The guys would only played naked or sometimes with only a thong.

All the games were expanded from one day festival,sometimes they had to play with sacrifices.But there second day of playing foot-race they played in a stadium.They would also played wrestling,boxing and the pancratium.Their aim for wrestling was to throw the opponent to the ground three times.For them boxing was more brutal.From all those games came boxing horseracing,and after horseracing other games came and those were sprinting,long-jumping,javelin-hurling,discus-throwing,and wrestling.

I also found out that sports and competition were realy important for the Ancient Greece.It was important because they believed that physical exercise and mental trainnig were connected to each other.For them education meant the development of the entire human being and could not be divided into physical and mental education,because the mind cannot exist without the body and the body has no meaning without the mind.The funny thing and the dumb thing that they ruled was that to educate children with gymnastics and music.Thats why all this kind of education and great athletic and musical contests were held in holy places,but under the protection of the gods and in the front thousands of spectators from all over Greece.But the contests were called Games,and the most famous were held at the Sanctuary of Olympia in southwestern Greece.

I also found out that before the Games,special messengers would set oof in every direction to announce the beginning of a sacred truce.But the sacred truce were use to protect Games-goers from assault and lasted three months.They had a rule and that was that the competitions were open only to honorable Greek men,but lasted five days.Everytime that was there first time to compit the athletes and the judges would always swore that they would compete and judge honestly,but the bad thing that on the second,third,and fourth day the different contests were held.The main event at Olympia was the stadion or single-course race,but who ever was the winner of that race gave his name to the Olympiad.Their idea for the revival of the olympic Games was not a passing fancy,it was the logical culmination of a great movement.
