BR>The most important Olympia in Archaeological Museum.In Greece collection artefacts from the Olympian god Zeuse were the ancient Olympic games were born and hosted.They made a new meseum that was constructed in 1975 and it was open in 1982.

Bronze horse It is dated in the transition between the Geometric to the Archaic period. It is unique for its monumentality on comparison with the small scale of other artefacts from the Geometric period. Museum number B1741.

The olympic games There are many different sport to played in Greece like boxing weigthlifting and pentathalon.In boxing players need to have there hands in cloth and fight until one of them is knocked out.The Pentathalon is about 5 different events javelin throwing,wrestling,running, and long jumping.

The games at Olympia were just a quarter of the Panhellenic Cycle. Nemea, Delphi and Isthmia were the other locations. You can visit each of these sites, see evidence of the religious importance of the games, and even the attempts to control cheating.

At the Panhellenic games, "the victors' only award was a wreath: olive at Olympia, laurel at Delphi, wild celery at Nemea, and pine originally and again later at Isthmia, with dry celery during the Classical and Hellenistic periods.

The Olympics were held, after the completion of four years during the month of July or August. The time inbetween two Olympic Games was called an Olympiad. In the beginning the games lasted only one day and comprised of only one event, the running of one Stadion, but gradually more events were added resulting, towards the 5th century B.C., in the games lasting for 5 days.

In total the Olympic Games consisted of 10 events: running, the pentathlon, jumping, discus, "ekebolon" javelin, wrestling, boxing, the pancration, chariot racing, and horse racing.

All Greeks who were free citizens and had not committed murder or heresy, had the right to take part in the Olympic Games. Women were not entitled to take part, except as owners in the horse races, while being strictly prohibited from watching the games.

The Panathenaic Stadium The panathenaic stadium was between two hills from Agra and Ardettos over Ilissos river.
