In Mythology, Delphi was the meeting place of two eagles, released by Zeus and sent in opposite directions. Where they met indicated the center of the earth and this decorated omphalas marked the exact spot. Delphi is known as the center of worship for the god Apollo, son of Zeus, who embodied moral discipline and spiritual clarity. But even before the area was associated with Apollo there were other deities worshipped here including the earth goddess Gea, Themis, Demeter and Poseidon, the well known god of the sea.The ruins of Delphi were uncovered by the systematic excavations of the French Archaeological School, which began in 1893. The village of Kastri, which had occupied the area of the sanctuary since medieval times, was moved to its present position. After the removal of huge quantities of earth that had been accumulated with the landslides, the remains of two sanctuaries, dedicated to Apollo and Athena Pronaea, were finally uncovered.The excavations revealed more than five thousands inscriptions of all kinds, statues, several miniature objects, architectural decorative pieces, all exquisite works of art, representing the major cities of Greek antiquity. Outside the area of the Sanctuary, the Stadium, the Gymnasium, the settlement of Delphi and its cemeteries have also been excavated.
This beach is not just any beach it's a greek beach. I'm writing about this beach because i love how it looks. Wen i look at this picture of the beach I feel like going in it because it looks so refreshing. Maybe one day I'll go there, but on till that day I'll just have to day dream about going to that beach.When I go there I want to take all my family because I would like it better so I won't be lonley and have some people to share my fun with. And what better way than to spent it with the people I love the most; My family. Hopefully that day will come very soon. When I get there the first thing I want to do is go surfing with my big brother and big sister. then I want to go eat at that cool resturant with all my family. Then I want to go to the hotel pool and swim for a few hours. And then go into our hotel and watch a lot of t.v. until I fall asleep. Then the next day i'll get up until 12p.m.then go surfing again and eat at the resturant and do this everyday until we go home. Man can hardley wait until that day, but hopefully that day comes really really soon.
