Thoughts on solidarity actions
We do not see the events of October 16th as an end in themselves, the point of local self controlled workers' organisations is not to generate an internationally co-ordinated day of action- the point of an internationally co-ordinated day of action is to generate local self-controlled workers' organisations.  On October 16th we hope we will see forward looking actions that concentrate on building the confidence and ability of McDonalds workers to take control over areas of our lives that have always been dictated to us.

If October 16th is a crescendo to our nascent rebellion that leaves our networks of resistance repressed or burned out then it will have been a failure.  But if it is succesful, October 16th will increase the strengths of our networks, increase our numbers, our influence and our confidence.

So, the sort of actions that we think will be most effective are those that inspire or inform workers of McDonalds and other corporations regarding the possibility and potential of direct action (just means stuff we do ourselves, rather than through the boss/ politician/ trade union leader, etc.) at work.  So to hand out information about MWR or other resistance to your workmates is, at any time, an important act, if it's done on October 16th and linked to similar acts around the world it's also inspiring, if it's accompanied by some disruption of the productive process, then even more so.

So, the sort of actions we think will be most effective are those that inspire or inform workers of McDonalds and elsewhere regarding the possibility  and potential of direct action in the workplace.  So, to hand out information about MWR and other McResistance to McDonalds workers is, at any time, an important action, if it's done on October 16th and linked to similar actions around teh world it's also inspiring.  As are actions that disrupt McDonalds business... and there are loads of ways to disrupt McDonalds business, some things people have done in the past:

You could picket a store and leaflet customers and staff, or got at night and glue locks, padlock doors, write slogans, or you could hand out free food, or have a picninc with your own food in a store, or obstruct the drive thru lane, etc.

There are myriad possibilities but plesae, for our sakes, don't do stuff that's just going to fuck our day up.  People (ourselves included) hate McDonalds for all sorts of reasons, but pissing people off needlessly is rarely a positive political activity.  So, the person who suggested throwing a bucket of shit over the counter, please think of something else... like glueing the locks which will hopefully get some workers a couple of hours off ;)

If you do something then, whatever it is, plesae let us know about it by e-mailing both
