Here I shall be attempting to answer some of the deep and challenging questions ordinary members of the public like yourselves ask me on an almost daily basis...
WHAT ON EARTH IS A "STANDING STONE"?
Well now, a standing stone is, as it's name would suggest, a stone which is standing. They are often very old, about as old as cavemen times, and come in various different shapes and sizes (see the gallery page for examples).
WHO WAS IT WHO INVENTED STANDING STONES?
Standing stones were invented, unbelievably, by a French man. His name was Obelix, and he lived nearly two thousand years ago, and he wore gigantic stripey trousers and had an enormous nose, which looked a bit like a squashed gherkin. Frenchmen in rural areas still look like this today.
SENOR EL DOTTIE, ARE THERE ANY STANDING STONES IN SPAIN?
Nah. Only the French, English and Scotch have standing stones. And the Belgiums have got a few, but not very good ones.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE STANDING STONE?
Hmm..a tough decision, there must be over fifty in the world from which to choose, but I would have to plump for the famous "Fanny Crackity" which can be found in the Kyle of McKewan, Orkney. My next favourite is King Donut's stone in Devon. Or is it Cornwall? I always get them two mixed up...
YOU'RE BORED OF ALL THESE QUESTIONS, AREN'T YOU?
Yes.
