Joining is and always will be free, but there is one thing you might want to keep in mind before joining GSF.
Our referee system requires the supervision of every ranked match and tournament match for validation. However, a referee isn't always available to actively observe (be a player in) a match. In this situation, if you are able to upload clear videos of your matches, you can do so and wait for a referee to view and validate the match later.
In summary: if you can't make and upload videos to Youtube, you may have to wait until a referee is available to have a ranked match. Uploading videos is in no way a requirement for joining GSF, it is just an advantage.
