Chapter Two

Ami slid back the door to their classroom sighing deeply. For a short while at least, Misaki was happily absent. Ami rolled her eyes wondering how she ever became best friends with the hyperactive Yochino Misaki. Maybe it was in pre-school; had Misaki been more sullen back then or had Ami been happier? She rubbed her head, it hurt to think like that. Lifting her eyes she saw Ryoko from across the room glaring furiously.
Ryoko, why do you have to bear a grudge? she enquired tired. Blame Misaki, she always gets excited over the blossoms
Youre her friend Ryoko merely replied.
Ami shrugged, at that moment the door slid back once more and Hitomi appeared.
Ohayo goazaimasu! she greeted cheerfully causing Ami to half leap back in surprise.
Why the cheerfulness? Ryoko, interested had to ask.
Amis reaction hadnt gone unnoticed.
Oh Ainoura-chan Hitomi half-admonished. You dont need to look quite so scared
Im not Ami defended herself Anyway, youre late
Thats because I went into the city this morning A small sly smile began to spread across Hitomis face. She raised one eyebrow in a knowing I-have-a-secret way.
This morning! Ryoko screeched in amazement Naze ka???!
Hai Ami Doko ka
Datte Hitomi began, an even bigger self-satisfied grin appeared on her face causing Ami to take fright once more. I went to get tickets for La

Ohayo gozaimasu minna their sensei abruptly entered the room to see the three girls and an otherwise empty classroom.
Anowhere is everyone she asked good naturedly. Ryoko, Hitomi and Ami turned first to look at her and then at the classroom.
Hmm, it does seem a bit empty Ryoko admitted before turning her gaze out of the window.
Maybe they all went to get Laruku tickets Hitomi offered triumphantly.
Nani Amis eyes grew wide.
Sou desu ne Hitomi smiled, I did get one for you. You owe me a lot of yen
Hai hai Ami tried a smile
Atashi wa Hitomi o suki desu! she joked
Nani nani a fourth voice was heard. The class filtered in and with them was Misaki. For once Ami didnt actually care.
We are going to see Laruku she smiled.
Ami are you smiling? Misaki made her way over to the desk.
I really hate you Ryoko murmured softly facing the window. She moved her hand from beneath her chin to flat on the desk upon which she nestled her head and stared blankly at the deepening blue of the sky with melancholy indigo eyes.

Quietly sit down please their sensei called from the front. Gradually the class settled down, Misaki assuming her desk across from Hitomi.
Hey she whispered Is what Ami said true? her eyes grew wide and excited.
Hitomi oblivious to all else smiled very softly in response to Misaki.
Hai. I was up very early this morning to queue
Misaki smiled back. She hadnt known Hitomi for long but she was more used to a person so laid back she didnt seem to get either excited or happy about anything, ad preferred a dry humorous approach to her life. Kind of a non-mean Ami-chan, Misaki thought taking a quick glance at the sullen blonde who was chewing on a pencil while exchanging looks with Ryoko. Misaki turned back to Hitomi. She had never seen Hitomi quite so animated, she had a lovely smiled when she could be bothered to, and obviously attaches all her emotional effort to something she really cares about.

Ami meanwhile was having more of a crisis internally. Or at least she felt she was. She was overjoyed at the prospect of the tickets but jolted by Hitomi, Ami did look to the dark-brunette for emotional support in sullenness. She winced as she watched Hitomi at her desk gazing out of the window and lift her hand to casually wave at random people. It also annoyed her that Ryoko was on her back. Usually the feisty redhead had no trouble with Ami persay, but tended to blame Ami for Misakis actions. She was probably still annoyed about Misakis collision with her that morning, Ryoko tended to hold grudges, and now the LArc tickets just topped it all off, and Ami being the nearest desk was the target for malice.
