X-Men
Since the end of the twentieth century, the X-Men, a group of mutants brought together by Charles Xavier, have fought and risked their lives to protect a people that feared and hated them.

Early in the twenty-first century, the X-Men began fearing and hating back.

After a confrontation with his parasitic twin Cassandra Nova, something in Xavier snapped.  He began to question the role of his X-Men in mutant/human relations and eventually drew the X-Men's support from non-mutant matters   So began a new and unsure era of the X-Men.
Scott Summers was the orginal leader of the X-Men and in many ways the template for all of the leaders to follow.  After Xavier retreated, Scott was named headmaster of the academy along with Emma Frost.  As his wife Jean Grey became more withdrawn and unhigned, Scott and Emma Frost began a mental affair.  Eventually, Scott filed for a legal seperation from his wife.  Shortly after, Jean Grey disappeared, presumbly fled.  Scott and Emma eventually married and are expecting their first child.

One of the X-Men's first rivals, Emma Frost eventually became a trusted ally and an important part of the team.  However, Emma lost the trust of many of the X-Men after she 'seduced' Scott away from Jean.  Never one to crumble under criticism, Emma remains with Scott as co-headmistress of Xavier Academy.
Jean Grey perhaps suffered the most after Xavier's withdrawl, maybe even more than her daughter Rachel.  After months spent estranged from her husband, the two eventually seperated.  Mentally unstable, she threw herself at Logan and when rebuked, disappeared into the North American wilderness where she remains today.

Kitty Pryde was perhaps the most surprised out of any that Xavier chose her to lead his new X-Men.  In recent months, the two had clashed over Xavier's new definition of te Dream.  However, Kitty was indeed chosen and fulfilled her role of leader admirably for years before giving birth to her daughter Lilith and resigning as field leader.
Remy Leblanc was always something of an outsider with the X-Men and this was amplified tenfold when Xavier began to discriminate against humans.  Remy and his partner Rogue eventually disappeared, and Remy has reclaimed his role as leader of the Thieves Guild in an outpost in Paris.

Rogue barely hesitated when she heard that Remy was leaving; of course, she was going with him.  The two now live together in Paris and could be considered common law spouses with their daughter Adrienne.
Early in the twenty-first century, Scott and Jean's relationship was crumbling.  However, Jubilation Lee had no idea.  She chose to confront Logan about her new romantic feelings for him only hours after Jean had told him she was single.  Confused and surprised, Logan shrugged Jubilee off and the girl soon believed he was choosing Jean over her.  Embarassed and angry, she departed for China.
Devasted after the loss of her mother and mutant abilities, Rahne Sinclair eventually wondered back to Xavier's.  She felt lost, and useless, until one of the younger Xavier students managed to heal her and help her regain her powers.  Out of gratitude, Rahne decided to stay on as a teacher and dedicates all of her time to teaching English, Literature and International Relations.
Now with the sudden and surprising death of their mentor and leader Charles Xavier, many of the X-Men are taking long, hard looks at their lives.  Long gone members are slowly filling back in, paying their last respects and settling old scores...
