Authors Note: HA HA HA ok in happy mood as write this and seeing Nora in Bridget Jones style running in pants through snow and singing at top of her lungs No wind, no rain or winters cold can stop me babe if you are my goal. Aint no mountain high enough, aint no valley low enough, aint no river wide enough to keep me from YOU!! Go girl 2a.m. Nora was awake again, alone in bed, staring at the ceiling for what seemed like the hundredth time that night. Strange dreams disturbing her, the feel of his mouth, the sound of his voice and the need that was slowly consuming her. She swung her legs out of bed and reached for the glass of water, it had gone warm, she swallowed it and grimaced and noticed the time. Two in the morning and still no sign of Richard, perhaps shed upset him more than she thought, but truly when she thought about it was his absence a real kick in the stomach? Solemnly she shook her head, no he wasnt really missed, and that was the painful part. The guy was head over heels and she was just killing time, wasnt that the way life went. But Jack, he was a different matter, a distracting, sickeningly handsome man that just about had her on her knees begging for more. And what did she do, walk away after thirty years of being enamoured with the man she walks away mid-kiss. Delicious kiss at that. She stumbled into the bathroom and rinsed her face, dried it on a nearby towel and watched her reflection begin to clear in the mirror. She didnt look too bad, hair a bit untidy. She returned to the bedroom and found her brush and tidied her hair up. Then her make-up bag, cream, a little foundation, lipstick, perfume on her wrists, neck and cleavage. A black jumper with a low cut neck, a long black skirt that always made her feel like she was walking on air, no jewellery, it was 2a.m after all. Car keys, handbag, mobile off and she was out the door without a clear thought as to what the hell she was gonna do. But screw it; you only lived once right. 2.30 a.m. Jack wasnt in bed, hadnt left his couch for hours just sat and steadily worked his way through a bottle of red wine. In darkness at that, replaying every moment hed ever spent with Nora. The conversations theyd shared, the flirting, when he was married hed never taken any notice of her flirting with him, it was a game, a little bit of fun at an other wise dull point in his life. But over the last two years it had taken a more serious turn, a more meaningful one and yet to her he always wondered if it was still the game. But tonight a sudden glimpse into her true feelings, a window to the truth and the sharpness of her rejection and the difficulty in walking out of that office and going home alone. Who the hell could be knocking at his door at this time? Better not be his younger brother with some god damn bright idea about travelling down to the coast for the weekend, taking the bikes out. Turning up at three with a suggestion like that, as if Jack could ever resist racing his little brother! He laughed at the memory as he opened the door then stopped when he saw her face. Still calm silent. Trying to muster up the energy to speak, to tell her all the things that had travelled through his head since hed left her earlier that evening. To put the world to rights and pledge her forever, and no more lies and no more deception and pretending just the two of them. But the words seemed to get in the way and he just stared at her instead, hoping the thoughts would transmit. Hi. She whispered. Hi. Her face clouded for a moment. You hurt me. I know. Dont ever do it again. He was going to shake his head and apologise but her mouth was on his, her hand round his neck and he was lost in the embrace. Stood in the open door, with the streetlights surrounding him and the cool night air stinging every nerve on his body and her stunning mouth caressing him. And of course in New York nobody cast a second glance to the couple making out in the doorway. He finally drew her inside and locked the door, no words, no foreplay enough of that, all he could do was watch as she draped her bag over the coat rack and went into the living room. He followed, the room was dark but he she seemed to know where she was going. On into his bedroom, removing her jumper and pulling him to her for another kiss. By this point he was moaning into her mouth, her perfume crawling under his skin, her warm chest pressing against his. Her kiss moved down his neck to his chest, her hands reaching inside his trousers. God Nora, He gasped reaching for her hand. Are you sure? Her fingers moved to his lips. Sshh, no more walking away from this. She smiled, that enigmatic smile that had first caught his eye then his devotion, and he kissed her fingertips, oddly more intimate than kissing her mouth. He allowed her to remove his shirt, almost cried when she crawled into his bed and made love to her as many times as his middle-aged body would allow him to. Could this be the love of his life?
