In April of 1965, the very first Glide Wildflower Show was held at the Idleyld Park Lodge. By today's standards, this was a very small show -- only 70 different plant specimens were displayed. The purpose of that show was to raise funds for the Glide Community Center. The following year the show moved to the Community Center and has remained there ever since.
Over
the years the GWS has grown from a small local event to one of regional
fame. It has become the largest single event in both the Glide
Community Center and the entire Glide community. If you would like to
learn more about the history of the GWS or see pictures from past shows you
can go to the GWS webpage.
