Please don't forget all who serve in South Korea, past and present. The most heavily guarded border on earth, the DMZ seperating North and South Korea has been called, "the scariest place on earth," by President Clinton. In 1953 an armistice was signed, but not a peace treaty, never oficially ending the war, and the threat of war between the Koreas is still very real. The 37,000 U.S. troops stationed there are very aware of that fact. The tension on the peninsula is clear nearly half a century after the battle that claimed nearly 3 million; the U.S. totals; over 7,000 POW's, 103,000 wounded and more than 36,000 dead.
