Fan Installation Comments
These are comments I received regarding the 7500 cooling fan. Feel free to E-mail me with any additional comments.

Greetings Glen,

Wanted to let you know that I followed your recommendation for installing a cooling fan in my 7500. Your directions were on the money and the fan is working like a charm!

For what it's worth, a couple of notes:
The 8-32 machine screws JUST did fit thru the holes...I resisted the urge to widen the holes with a file; didn't want metal filings in my box. This was the toughest part of the installation.

Best wishes,
Hacky

Hello. I wish to add some comments with respect to the fan air flow direction  that may interest others with 7500/7600 machines.

I made this fan type installation some time ago  with similar excellent results (CompUSA fan).

I do have some comments with respect to fan air flow direction.

Since keeping the  processor as cool as possible was my main concern, I directed the fan  air flow  from the hard drive compartment into the CPU compartment. The box  venting direction  is controlled by the fan located underneath the power supply-it sucks the air out of the  hard drive compartment, through the vent holes, into the CPU compartment, then out under the power supply and out the rear into room ambient. Therefore, directing the fan air flow in the same direction   appears to me to be the most efficient way to go, CPU cooling wise. Directing the fan  air flow from the CPU to  the hard drive compartment "bucks" the normal box designed venting flow.

BTW.  I  added another fan to help cool a second internal hard drive installed in the lower bay. I added it on the metal plate located in front of the lower bay compartment, following the directions (second-last paragraph) at
