| The only physical evidence purporting to corroborate Belile's second-hand account of a robbery-murder was the fact that the victim was shot five times and that Mr. Seals was in possession of $150.00 in small bills that had blood on them when he was apprehended less than an hour after the incident. The state never suggested any explanation for how Mr. Seals would have obtained the victim's gun, which was secreted somewhere in the taxi cab before it was drawn on Mr. Seals. | ![]() |

| 1) the victim's wallet was in his pocket undisturbed and he was found wearing a diamond ring-- hardly the hallmark of a robbery; 2) Mr. Seals was paid the afternoon of the shooting from his place of employment, where he had worked consistent for ten months prior to the incident; 3) it was proven that Mr. Seals did not carry a wallet; he carried his money in his front pocket, which was soaked with blood; 4) the victim received gunshot wounds to both hands, which is consistent, according to the coroner's testimony, with other cases involving struggles over a weapon; 5) the state never suggested Mr. Seals entered the taxi cab with any type of weapon; 6) nothing in Mr. Seals' background would indicate any propensity for committing such a crime. On the contrary, he was a consistent and reliable employee and a devoted family member. |

| This case is about a tragic mistake. No reasonable trier of fact would have seen Raymond Feeney's death as anything else. Only one witness, Kevin Belile, provided any evidence that Mr. Feeney's death was an intentional murder. On the other hand, there was considerable evidence that it was accidental, consistent with Mr. Seals' testimony. The only evidence that the murder occured during a robbery was the testimony of Belile concerning statements purportedly made only to him by a dying man. Prosecutors James Alan Williams and Ronnie Bodenheimer employed a far-ranging pattern of misconduct to convict Mr. Seals of first-degree murder in the absence of evidence. First, they made sure no member of Mr. Seals' race were among the triers of fact, striking every potential African-American juror solely because of their race. These same prosecutors also hid key evidence that disproved the crucial testimony of witness Kevin Belile. Throughout trial, prosecutors Williams and Bodenheimer fasely, and with no basis whatsoever, depicted Mr. Seals-- a reliable worker and law-abiding citizen-- as an "animal" and social pariah. It would be remiss not to note that prosecutor James Alan Williams was the same prosecutor condemned in Kyles v. Whitley, 115 S.Ct. 1555, U.S.(1995), which ordered a new trial for Mr. Kyles after being tried five times. Mr. Kyles is now off death row. Williams is currently under investigation in Thompson v. Cain for concealing exculpatory evidence in capital cases. In Thompson, it was revealed during capital post-conviction proceedings that the state had withheld an expulpatory blood examination that would have exonerated Thompson in a prior robbery proceeding. James Alan Williams, one of Glen Seals' trial prosecutors, was at the center of the misconduct in Thompson as he was in Kyles. As in Thompson, the exculpatory FBI report in Mr. Seals' case inexplicably "disappeared" from the state's case files. |
