| Name: Gary Doherty Place of Birth: Donegal, Ireland Date of Birth: 31/01/80 Height: 6 ft 1in Maxtheyid rating: Versatile Irishman who is effective in both defence and attack. David Pleat says that Doc is more of a striker but in my opinion is better going forward as a defender. Doherty works very hard as a team member and gets on with his job without fuss. After breaking his leg he is recovering steadily and hopefully he will make an assured return to first team action. The Doc always seems to pop up with important goals and often bails us out with crucial tackles. An under-rated player who has a great future ahead of him. Maxtheyid's Favorite Doherty Moment: His header against West Ham in the quater final of the F.A cup in 00/01. We were leading 2-1 and the Doc's header calmed nerves before they pulled another goal back. Doherty looked assured in defence and showed that he could deliver on the big stage. He later went on to score against Ars*nal in the semi final. The Doc is a great player and will get better with age. |
