| April 30, 2002 - BRITNEY SPEARS. The name alone can draw a whole litany of responses. From females, the reaction can range from catty to admiring to anywhere in between. But for males, well, the reaction is pretty simple: Lust. Quite simply, to guys of my generation, she is our muse, our pin-up girl...when she comes on the television screen, whole frat houses fall silent. A whole part of Britney's appeal stems from her alleged virgin status. For better or worse, this appeals to that part of the male brain that suspends disbelief so much that he may actually believes that he, Daniel Arizpe, may be the one to deflower her. I believe that is primarily what drives her massive popularity with my generation. Without a doubt, nearly every heterosexual male of my generation would go to untold lengths to be the lucky one who takes Miss Spears' virginity (supposedly someone already offered her $10 million for the privilege). That brings us to the question that my friend Kevin and I have been kicking around for a long time now...would you have sex with Britney Spears if you would never be able to tell a soul that you so much as met her? I think most guys would answer with a resounding "YES", but they would be wrong, very wrong. Without a doubt the experience would be both fun an memorable...but that memorable part is where the problem arises. You would never be able to get it off of your mind. I'm not saying that it would ruin all other women for you, though it could, but how could you ever sit around a table shooting the shit with your buddies ever again? Imagine this scene: Your buddy is bragging on his prowess because of some bar nag he corralled, and giving you grief because you have been w/ the same girl for almost three years (um, yeah, happy anniversary next week Kiley). You sit there, powerless to respond, tied into knots knowing that you have the ultimate comeback that can't be used. The secret would fail to give you pride, it could be your undoing. So guys, take my advice, if contacted by Britney's representation, just let your voicemail pick it up. to the archive |
