First community meeting will be Thursday, June 26; 6 – 9 PM; Glenn Dale Community Center. Rex Hutchinson is in charge of communicating with the individal communities. They do not know if East Glenn Dale will be address in the plan. The county council person and chairperson will be at the meeting. Some of the issues are the hospital site, the MARC station, and increased development.
Bell Station Tree Buffer – No new news.
Glenn Dale Commons – No new news.
Glenn Dale Golf Course Development – Developer has asked for reconsideration of the application including access onto RT 193 instead of the adjacent community roads. On July 10 (10 AM) is the hearing for this.
Samantha – Developer has agreed to pay for access onto RT 193. We are not appealing because it will take it out of the Planning Board’s hands and give it to the court. This is to see if the board will reconsider the access. Doug Peters will write letters of recommendation for access onto RT 193. If yes, then there will be another meeting for the reconsideration.
There is a letter for to Samual J. Parker of the Planning Board supporting access onto RT 193. This will be emailed to Association members. There was discussion as to whether a traffic study on Daisy Lane is necessary. A reconsideration would be only based on current information, with no new information. Samantha Cronin will contact the developer to ask if we could see the plan for the exit.
Jim Titus said that the community should express our desire to maintain the tree-lined look of the area. Also, we would like a 5 foot bike lane (pocket lane) through the intersection for safety.
We would like to maintain the park-like vista of RT 193.
A motion was made to send a letter supporting the reconsideration. Passed.
The developer will PDF the plans so far.
Hit and Run on Goodluck Road – The letter supporting investigation was sent. The victim was appreciative of the support.
A motion was made to write a letter to the Council bringing attention to 3 locations where government action has blocked pedestrian/bike passages and encourage that these be addressed.
The Holy Trinity Day School has a site plan for a hearing in July. There will be 2 more building to the site (gymnasium). This was part of the plan when the school was built.
Fairwood is going to put in a day care center.
Jonathan Stein of the Gazette is taking time off and will not be covering Glenn Dale any more.
Next meeting will be July 15.
What is the new construction on 193 and 450? Ivy Creek has begun (a Zoglio property). The association had objected to how close the access onto RT 193 was to RT 450.
Meeting adjourned 20:41.
