Some common catch-phrases (Sayings, idioms etc)
It's better than a kick in the teeth / balls -You should be happy with the situation, as it could be much worse.
This is getting on my nerves = This is irritating me
I couldn't get a word in (edgeways) = The other person was speaking so much that I couldnt say anything
Beggars can't be choosers = Be thankful for anything you get free
Don't count your chickens (before they hatch) = Don't make assumptions
Bobs your uncle = There you have it; expressing satisfactory completion.
Hes driving me around the bend! = Hes making me go crazy
It's a pain in the neck = Its troublesome and tiring
You've got the wrong end of the stick = You misunderstand something (a situation)
Don't make a mountain out of a mole hill = Don't make so much out of so little
Don't put all your eggs in one basket = Look at all your options
It's six-a-one, half dozen of the other = It doesn't matter, either option is fine.
Don't let it rattle your bones = Don't let it bother you
I had to pay through the nose = I had to pay so much money
To get something of your chest = to tell someone something thats troubling you
Never judge a book by its cover
(Wakey wakey)Rise and shine = wake up,get up,start working etc
We'll cross that bridge when we come to it = Don't worry about that now; one step at a time
What goes around, comes around. = If you do something wrong, it'll probably come back to haunt you.
You are barkin' up the wrong tree! = You aren't looking in the right place.
