My home theater speaker project
Here's a shot of the subwoofer while it's open. The box is built from 3/4" MDF with 1"x1" pine along the inside of the joints for extra bracing and support. There are two 2"x4" braces in the middle of the sub for further structural bracing to help decrease any cabinet resonance.

In this photo, I've put the edge trim pieces onto the box - the orangish/red wood is called Paduak. It's an African hardwood. The 1/8" veneer plywood is a Birch veneer that I've stained with a cherry colored stain. The plywood is held in place with contact cement which is very tricky to work with... once it's stuck, it's stuck!

The Finished box! The sub is a 12" Shiva, made by Adire Audio
It's powered by a KG_5150 amp which I purchased from Madisound
and pumps out 200 watts into 4 ohms (both voice coils running in parallel on the sub). This thing cranks! With over 15mm of one-way excursion, this woofer moves a TON of air!

Here's a shot of the sub with the home-built main speakers I'm using. They use peerless 6.5" woofers and a generic tweeter that came with crossovers in the kit. I finished them with black gloss enamel. For ~ $100, they sound great!
