My notes installing mythtv on Debian December 26, 2004 I spent many hours installing mythtv on Debian over several months. It has been one of the most frustrating experiences I have had with software. Of course, that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the challange most of the time. I had previously installed GBPVR in Windows and was not happy with it's performance, although I thank the author putting something out there to help me get started. I then installed Knoppmyth. It got me going with mythtv, but left me wishing for a more complete system with mythtv added to it. This is where I chose Mepis to add mythtv to. I hope these notes help someone out. Some commands be redundant, misguided, or even silly. Nevertheless, it is how I installed and it has worked to a degree. I am open to comments. I read many sites, but I think that a few were most helpful. They are listed in the following files. I installed mythtv using apt-get in Mepis 2004.03. with a Hauppauge pvr-250 capture card. I left the notes in different files since they are seperate phases of the installation. Instructions: Install Mepis, boot with 2.4.26 Install the ivtv driver Install mythtv Install nvidia-glx Todo: I have not yet set up the remote. David Gleba
