| THE HISTORY OF THE "VEGAS" | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The vegas is the longest-running bike out of the whole damn shooting match. Bought by King in 2004 from Halfords and in 30 mins it was on its milk run of over 42 miles. Born into bitter, endless abuse and modification the Vegas has only ever asked that we keep her wheels true and her proper Raleigh badge where it is. One of the last budget bikes from Raleigh that was actually worth the money before they went tits-up and outsourced to cambodia and 'nam. The Vegas has been written off about 3 or 4 times in the last couple of years but after several hardcore re-vamps and servicings we brought her back to life. Where most shit bikes would of snapped their chains or 'mechs after 12 months just from general riding the Vegas is routinely thrashed downhill and across terrible terrain. This aint normal, baby. Really, really crap suspension forks were installed in 2006 to raise the steerer tube angle for something a little more laid back. Given the fact that these shit forks only had 20-30mm of travel they did amazingly well considering the brutal treatment they got delt on every hill, XC ride and night-time DH event. The Vegas was put into retirement after its wheels were transplanted onto another bike and Cracker acquired his Fury bike. I re-adopted the beloved hardtail and using parts from a RAL Scorpio and a 1960's Gitane Tandem bike it is slowly but surely becoming a hybrid Klunker/Cruiser. My Ambitions for the Vegas is to make it usable as both a stylish cruiser and a speeding off-road monster. At the moment the Vegas has: New Super Chromo wheels from Van Schothorst or something Taken from the Raleigh Scorpio Chrome rat trap pedals from the '60s Gitaine. They were rusted to a state, but thats why they invented chrome polish and Muc-Off- The Bike mechanics wet 'n' dry. BMX handlebars (DK), due to be replaced by Ape Hangers (Chrome) 1X working Rear V Brake. No plans for a front brake, It has a full set of 7 gears with a SiS index/sliding shifter mounted on the lower run of the handlebars. Saddle from the Gitaine (Due to be replaced by a black Brooks' B17) 2 X Pannier racks (chrome) restored from the Gitaine tandem. 1 X Rear mudguard from the Gitaine. Plans for the Vegas: Install huge goddamn forks. Install even bigger sissy bars. And a decent seat to boot. All thats left then is to clean up the paintjob. |

| This installation needed alot of bodging to make it secure. Blood was spilt. The muse for this idea came purely from the bottom of a bottle. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
