| He joined Capt. John Garrit's company of local militia in opposing the British. After the revolution, Silas Gregg (the grandfather of my Silas Gregg) moved from Delaware to a Quaker community in Georgia in 1790. He stayed there 16 years and then migrated with the Quakers to Preble County, Ohio, because of opposition to the resurgence of slavery in Georgia after the invention of the cotton gin. |

| Comments:� Silas served in the Revolution in DE. Have not yet found when or where he married Rhoda. |
|
|
|
Mary and Polly were born in DE apparently. They made their way to Wilkes Co. GA by 1792 where remaining children were born, then went with other Quakers to OH by about 1805. |

| William Gregg married an Eliza Gregg in 1833 Preble Co. Then in 1835, married Tabitha Leslie dau. of John Leslie (founding pioneer of Gratis Twp.) |

| The LDS IGI is also incorrect, showing that Silas married Mrs. Silas Gregg in Preble Co. circa 1791 and Silas Jr. born 1792. Obviously no one did the math, as Silas Sr. would have been only age 12 in 1791. And Jr. was their 6th child. |

Josiah's father, Harmon, was a wheelwright who became a farmer when he moved west from Tennessee to Illinois and then Missouri. Harmon was the son of Jacob Gregg, a great grandson of William Gregg the Quaker immigarant of 1682. |
