PILOT AND GUNNER
Our story begans with a baby red dragon born on the world of Erath. Like most red dragons, the little sucker was firery. Unlike any other, however, the little dragon never learned how to fly. It seemed as though he didn't even have the natural ability of flight. He was shunned by the other dragons and kicked out of their community. He spent his youthful years in the forest, alone and uncared for. For almost three decades, he would do little else, but practice fire breathing and other projectile attacks. Humans visiting the forest nicknamed him the Gunner Dragon. He barely managed to survive on his own.
Next, we'll take a look at a young man. Born to Thomas and Martha Pilot, young william had a love of the skies. His name was his calling. Only three, he flew his first kites. At the age of five, his father brought him a radio controlled plane. This only further feuled William's obsession and he did little else but learn about flying, play with toy planes and even flight simulators on the computer. At the early age of sixteen, he was accepted into the Erath Military flight school. William excelled in almost every area. He was one of the finest pilots Erath had ever seen. Except for the fact that he had never learned how to fight. As a youth, William had been beaten in many fist fights. He never shot a gun, or used a knife, and even the combat techniques of fighter jets were beyound him. Sure he was hard to shoot down. His evasive manuevers grew very advanced, but he had no offensive skills to speak of.
William served a few duty assingments after graduating the flight school, all without incedence. His life was proceeding excellently untill one fateful day, a mere month after he turned 19. Flying an otherwise rutine mission to St. Petersburg, his unit was engaged by hostile forces. William evaded the enemy as the rest of the unit was shot down. He attemted to fight back, but with little avail. Even with all his skills, Williams F 15 was hit. The ejection system saved his life, but he knew his odds of survival behind enemy lines were slim to none. As he parachuted into a dark, forboding forest near the Danube river, he landed on the back of a little red dragon, now roughly the size of an elephant. The rest, as they say, is history.
Pilot and Gunner make a very bizzare, unlikely and amazing combination. Although unable to fly on his own, Gunner does quite well with Pilot's commands. Years spent prefecting his projectile attacks have made Gunner a virtual bad ass in most fights. Pilot has ganned a freedom he never achieved with any jet or helicopter. They have been fast friends and close companions ever since that unlikely meeting.
Gunner's aim is phenominal, bordering on just plan spooky. Most other dragons devoted their youth between different activities, such as flying, pestering farmers and play fighting with each other. Gunner's single minded childhood has payed off. Gunner is unable to fly without Pilot. Any attempts he might make end up badly. Needless to say, he is very dependant on his human friend.
Pilot, in addition to his skills in the air, seems to possess a limited range of magical abilities. Not uncommon to humans, or his own family for that matter, he can communicate telepathically, though he uses it mostly to talk with Gunner. Speach is a little difficult while flying. His close proximity and teamwork with Gunner has resulted in him developing something like Magical Beast Mastry, though it only works on flying dragons, and its possible it works only on Gunner himself. Pilot still has no offensive combat skills of any kind. He has made numerous attempts and all have ended poorly. He depends heavily on Gunner to keep him alive.
