Even as someone who chooses not to drink alcohol, I took great offense at some of the statements put forth by wet opponents during the last wet/dry vote, in December, 2000. Not only were distortions, speculation, opinions & assumptions stated as fact, but religious beliefs were misused to bully, coerce & intimidate.
The purpose of the 2000 vote was NOT to legalize all sales of alcohol in Glasgow. Bars and package sales would not have been approved under this vote. It was simply to approve sales of alcohol BY-THE-DRINK at select restaurants.
A similar vote WILL happen here again...probably in the near future.
