| The Dress This is the pattern I used. It was all white, and looked like the dress on the bottom right with the sash/belt of the dress on the left. All in all, it ended up beautifully! The Cloak For the cloak, I used the round cloak pattern from alleycatscratch.com, again in all white. To keep it on, I put two holes on either side of the split in the neckline, layered them one on top of the other, then put my brooch through them. This works really well! The Brooch The brooch I made entirely of my own direction. For it you will need: *silver and green glitter or pearl puffy paint (I used glitter) ***be sure it is NOT glue!! This will not work!!*** *2 pictures of the Lorien brooch *wax paper *tape *a small or medium barrette *a toothpick *a hot-glue gun To begin, tape the corners of the wax paper to one of the brooch pictures. Outline the brooch on the wax paper with the silver paint. When this is done, fill it in with the green, then, looking at the second picture, make the veins with the silver, using the toothpick to make them gradually smaller. Be careful, though, to not trace it all the way through to the wax paper - this will create weak spots! Also, don't be afraid to use too much paint! There is no such thing! After letting it dry overnight, carefully peel it off of the wax paper and hot-glue it to the barrette. Voila! Your own Lorien brooch. **Note** Be carefull with it! It may be flexible, but it WILL break! If this happens, superglue (in the small tubes, not the Elmer's stuff) works very well to put it back together. The Shoes Again, mine were all white. I used the pattern from alleycatscratch.com. Click here to find the pattern. They are easy to make and only take about an hour! The Circlet Surprise! I used alleycatscratch.com for this! It turned out really well! Go here to get the pattern! The Hair To get wavy hair like Galadriel, french braid your hair when it's damp and leave it overnight. Take it out in the morning and hairspray it. Beautiful! The Ears For the ears, I looked long and hard for skin putty but couldn't find any. I ended up buying "Alien Ears" from a costume store called Clowing Around for $12.00 a pair. These were too big and pasty looking, so I cut them down to fit on the tips of my ears, colored them with foundation and blush, and then realized that I didn't by the body glue to attach them. Easily fixed! I put tape on the inside and across the back and they stayed just fine. Put a lock of hair over the seam, and they great! I was told so many times when I wore mine that they looked real. |
