Last night the Guilderland Board of Education met the Long Red Line! Over 60 alumni, current athletes, parents, family and friends gathered at the High School for the opportunity to tell our story to not only the board but the media. Every local news station was on hand before the meeting to interview the Long Line of Red jackets and sweatshirts. While waiting for the meeting to begin, attendees also had the opportunity to mingle with G'land legends both past, present and future. 8th grader Brian Rhodes-Devey was even heard appologizing to Matt Denyse ('98) for breaking his mile record (4:37!!).
The emotional pinnacle was then reached when Mr. & Mrs. Wagner greeted everyone. Mrs. Wagner proudly announced to everyone that she was "John's mother." Once the meeting was called to order, Bill McCartan ('78) and Bryan Poole ('00) both spoke on behalf of the group. The 11 o'clock news was later filled with uplifting stories regarding John. This evening will be remembered as a success on all accounts.
UPDATE: John also submitted his resignation on this night, unbeknownst to his supporters. We were behind him no matter what.
Thanks to all who were present in body and spirit.
