Below is an exerpt from an article to be published in the September issue of the Pace Setter magazine:
Lindsey Goldberg, a 2003 graduate of Guilderland High School, is our female recipient. Lindsey was both a stand-out performer and team leader for the track & field and cross-country teams; serving as team captain all three seasons her senior year. Much of Lindseys running successes, however, didnt come until her senior year. A mediocre runner who spent much of her career bouncing between Varsity and JV, Lindsey made the decision after her sophomore year that she would not settle for the middle-of-the-pack. That summer, Lindsey put in double workouts to increase her strength and overall speed. The results showed. Lindsey was 19th overall in a very competitive field at the 2002 Section II Class A Championships in a time of 18:46. She took more than one and a half minutes off her time in one year with determination and an undaunting work ethic.
Lindsey is an academic all-star as well! She has received numerous awards for her academic achievements and is an active member of the National Honor Society. Lindseys pursuits extend outside of the classroom to include various community activities including Church activities, youth education, and symphony orchestra. Next year, Lindsey will attend SUNY Brockport where she will pursue Elementary Education and run at the Division III level. Lindsey is quick to acknowledge the support of her family, friends and her faith in God.
Congratulations Lindsey and good luck at Brockport!
