Kosier would follow in the footsteps of both his parents by pursuing teaching. His first teaching experience was as a substitute at his alma mater. That year he also took his first coaching position leading the track & field team to an 8-0 record in the Tri-Valley league (Section II).
When a teaching position became available at Guilderland HS in September of 1997, Kosier jumped at the opportunity. Kosier also wasted no time introducing himself to the head track & field coach, Pete Wachtel, whom he met on his first day of school. That year the coaching positions were already filled, so he volunteered for the first year and enrolled at UAlbany to begin work on his Masters. The next fall he took his first coaching job at Guilderland coaching the girls freshmen soccer team and also served as an assistant coach track coach in the spring.. The following year when Wachtel needed a break from coaching, he approached Kosier about the responsibility. Kosier, although hesitant at first due to his teaching job and studies, would eventually take the reigns from Wachtel, because he cared deeply for the success of the program. Kosier has been head coach of the track & field team and an assistant indoors ever since.
In August of 2001 Kosier, whom was still coaching soccer, noticed that a position was open in the cross country program. Rather than take the girls cross-country assistant position, Kosier offered it to his then girlfriend, Stephanie, whom he met in the faculty room at Guilderland. This was an oppurtunity to get his foot in the door so that he could eventually be involved in the program. In 2002 Kosier and his wife agreed to share that position. Kosier would instead serve as assistant boys coach while John Wagner was recovering from his heart-attack. Kosier has been assistant boys coach ever since Wagner retired in 2003.
Kosier earned his Masters in Curriculum Development & Instructional Technology in 1998. Kosier married his wife Stephanie in 2001 and they live in Delanson with their two cats Sambuca and "Boy" (who has yet to be named). Kosier paints houses in the summer and enjoys watching his Yankees when he's not grading tests.
