| A Kind Heart For Mariska Hargitay, her role of Detective Olivia Benson on, Law & Order: SVU, doesn't stop when the cameras stop rolling. She has dedicated her life to helping others and has used her fame for a good cause. Mariska spends much of her free time in Hawaii, helping others deal with being the victims of sexual abuse. Through her foundation, The Joyful Heart Foundation, she takes these victims and together they begin the healing process by swimming with dolphins. Mariska is also a certified rape crisis counselor. She underwent over 40 hours of training in order to help others. For Mariska, her role of Detective Benson, has enabled her to make a differance in others lives and to help them get their lives back. She has often said that Olivia doesn't cry about the tough issues she faces at her job every day, but Mariska does.
