Roman Perspective

In Roman times there were of course many bad and good things such as the fact that the majority of the population were peasants and only a few were in high rule but because of that we became extremely productive. Although, we were referred to as Plebians. The Plebians consisted of farmers, merchants, artisans, and traders. Yet as weak as we may seem we did have a say in roman government, this was proved in 450 B.C. when the government made the laws of Rome and inscribed them on 12 tablets that sat in the forum or marketplace. These tablets made it possible for us to appeal a judgment handed down by a patrician judge. Then during a short time we were given the power to elect our own leaders called tribunes. These leaders had the power to veto against laws that would be bad for the plebians. Now slowly we began to converge on the government and try to force it to open up positions for us to work in. So the overall impact that we the plebians to the roman government was that we were able to make our voice be heard and keep that voice protected from people that would want to overrule it. Nevertheless I believe that Rome is the empire that effected so many future generations and what we did will inspire many other people in the future to take a stand and speak your mind.
