Ending’s Beginning
14 Nov 2002
When every aching shred of hope is gone,
Torn from the breaking heart by cold despair,
Its flickering, shrinking ember crushed to darkness
Will anyone notice? Will someone care?
When the seer’s eyes go blind and dark,
The poet’s still, small voice is hushed, no more
To sing the songs of loving and living,
Whose hand will send the boat away from shore?
Time coaxes us all down destiny’s paths;
My road has but a little way to wend.
Many a tortured mile it crept and trudged,
Til now it seeks the respite of the end.
Every stream finds its ending in the sea;
Every life casts away its form diverse,
Joins the eternal waters of the soul,
To be, at last, one with the universe.
