List of Parishes from
'Magna Britannia - Cambridgeshire' by Daniel & Samuel Lysons,
first published 1808.
PAROCHIAL TOPOGRAPHY
There is no general history of the county, excepting a very scanty
and incorrect work, published in 1753, in one volume 8vo. by Edmund
Carter, a schoolmaster of Cambridge. ...
Whatever we could obtain from records, we have availed ourselves
of ; where we have not had an opportunity of access to the originals,
we have quoted such abstracts as are to be found in public libraries.
... The more modern part of our account of the respective parishes
has been collected from personal observation and inquiry, aided
by various information respecting local circumstances, communicated
by the clergy, and other obliging correspondents.
