In my life I�ve had many setbacks, ever since breaking my leg badly in sixth form, which stopped me studying hard and I eventually failed miserably. I got my life back on the road, having to work all seven days of the week in a local supermarket in south London helped, but not as much as I wanted. Instantly when I turned 23 I decided to take my HGV drivers test, not many people would let you drive a HGV when your 21! I passed and now for many years I have been working for the likes of Marks & Spencer�s, WH Smiths, from Washing machines to Kylies lingerie, you name it I�ve had it in the back of the truck. And now a new turn of my life, a company came in and made me a massive rise in pay but instead of my normal South of England delivering it was the whole of the UK. The pay was enough to tempt me and now I�m in a trade where shifts are oddly timed.
Saturday was the final straw, I thought I�d had enough time to get from Barnet to Eastleigh but when I got just out of London it was 2:30 nowhere near the time I gave for it. I admittedly love my job, as much as I love Hastings United which my passion will never go away, so there�s no report for the Eastleigh match, I strongly recommend Sean Adams�s great reports on the Ghost Of site.
Saturday I was told will be like many other Saturdays in the year, unlikely to get many off to watch the great game. This is why I�m writing this, after a year of getting Claret�n�Blue on it�s feet, Sandy and I have worked hard to gather the crowds in and it has shown at the start of the season some great hits but now United near (or are) the bottom hits on the site have gone down a bit, but never mind. But we have a nucleus of a good site here, and it�ll be a shame for us to leave it, Sandy is to stay on and if anyone wishes to join the Claret�n�Blue team just email me, you don�t need any understanding of HTML, Javascript, or XTML, or Flash its just simple stuff on our site, simple and effective!!
I hope someone (or people the more the merrier) can take most of the running of the site, it�s all there if you email me then I�ll pass on the passwords and get it from then on. The main things that I do on this site are:
Any match reports that Sandy doesn�t get to.
Fans View (when we get people to do it).
Next Match Preview.
And the maintenance of the site which only happens when new pages come on.
Finally I would like to thank everyone who has helped in any way to make this site even better, from the viewers who keep coming back time after time to people like Tommy Blanche, Simon Stoddart and David Bauckham, who�s knowledge of websites has helped tremendously. Thanks to you all.
One final word, I am saying this now, there is room for only one club in my heart and that�ll always be Hastings United, when I get a Saturday afternoon off, I�ll be there, home, away, sunshine, raining, I�ll be there supporting the lads, I won�t jump down to Eastbourne to see the �BOROUGH� play I�d rather watch Hastings football. Unfortunately in life for pleasure you have to sacrifice things and football websites is mine.
But don�t worry if Claret�n�Blue is saved and I think it has a good 70% if everyone pulls together, then I will more than likely be pottering around in the background, maybe a weekly/monthly letter on the site I don�t know yet but hopefully, always after getting a new job you think you�ll never have enough time but after a month or two I�ll get more time and hopefully get back into this great prospect of a website.
