Match Preview

Arsenal v PSV

Arsene Wenger will have one eye on Saturday's north London derby when he picks a virtual reserve team for Tuesday's Champions League game with PSV Eindhoven.

Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund are already guaranteed to go through to the second stage - although it is still up for grabs as to who wins Group A and who comes second.

If the Gunners pip the Germans they will meet one group winner and two second-placed teams in the second stage.

But that will not concern Wenger too much as the English champions could end up drawing big Italian or Spanish opposition in the next round wherever they finish.

"It is debatable whether it is much advantage to finish top of the group," said the Highbury boss.

With that in mind Wenger will field a team bereft of Sol Campbell, Lauren, Gilberto Silva, Ray Parlour, Sylvain Wiltord, Dennis Bergkamp, Thierry Henry and Kanu.

David Seaman also misses out with the groin injury he picked up in the closing stages of Saturday's 1-0 victory over Newcastle.

The England goalkeeper's place will be taken by Swedish-born Egyptian goalkeeper Rami Shaaban, rather than the usual deputy Stuart Taylor.

"We have an opportunity to see Rami Shaaban play in a competitive match situation," explained Wenger.

"Both Rami and Stuarthave all the right assets to permanently replace David one day."

Also hoping to impress to impress the manager against PSV will be Francis Jeffers and two players returning from injury, Robert Pires and Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Tuesday's game possibly means more to PSV than Arsenal, as the Dutch side are battling it out with Auxerre for third place in the group and a place in the Uefa Cup.

"We very much want to beat Eindhoven and finish top of our first round group - even though we know we are already through to the next stage," said Wenger.

"We have lost our last two games in Europe and we want to change that. Also we have a moral obligation to Auxerre.

PSV, hoping to erase the memory of September's 4-0 defeat at home to Arsenal, have been boosted by the return to form of their Yugoslav striker Mateja Kezman.
