Arsenal go into the game having had their run of scoring in 55 consecutive English league matches ended in Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Manchester United - but Arsene Wenger is still in bullish mood ahead of the visit of Valencia.

There may be question marks over the fitness of Partick Vieira, but the manager said: "This game is the biggest test we've faced so far this season in Europe...Valencia defend well and are very clever on the break.

"But I don't like it when people question our spirit. The game (against United) on Saturday was one we could have won as well. We were not given a footballing lesson. We were disappointed but we are not worried."

Both reserve goalkeepers featured in the Old Trafford match, Stuart Taylor coming on to replace Rami Shaaban after the Swede pulled a thigh muscle late in the first half.

But first choice David Seaman, who played in a practice match on Saturday, is fit to return after a two-game absence with a groin strain and may win back his place.

However, captain Vieira has a probem with a thigh muscle aggravated in training on Monday, and is rated only 40/60 to figure in the Group B fixture.

Edu and Ray Parlour are on standby, while Lauren, who has been out with an ankle injury, is also fit to return

Sol Campbell is back from suspension so either Martin Keown and Pascal Cygan will make way in central defence. Ivorian midfielder Kolo Toure is suspended.

Valencia will be boosted by the return of Pablo Aimar as they go in search of their first win of the second phase.

The Argentine playmaker, who missed the opening 1-1 draw at home to Ajax, returned from a three-week injury lay-off to play the last 15 minutes of the 2-0 league win over Racing Santander at the weekend.

Fellow midfielder Francisco Rufete has also been included in the squad, although he is unlikely to make the starting line-up.

Argentine winger Kily Gonzalez is out with a long-term ankle injury and captain Santiago Canizares has not yet recovered from a knee injury, leaving Andres Palop to deputise in goal.
