The ex-Corinthians teammate of Arsenal left-back Silvinho - full name, Eduardo Cesar Daud Gaspar - Edu arrived at London's Heathrow Airport in July, ready to start pre-season training with Arsenal, only for immigration officials to deduce that his Portuguese passport was a fake. Edu and Arsenal maintained his innocence of any knowledge about this matter and, after several months, he was eventually able to secure a bone fide EU passport and complete his �6m move to Highbury. He's been handed Emmanuel Petit's old number 17 shirt - Arsenal fans and the player himself too will hope he can take over his playing mantle as well. |
