| "Leave Me Alone" "Leave Me Alone", I think Michael Jackson said it best in his song "Leave Me Alone". Those three simple words that the general American public seem to forget when it comes to Michael Jackson. I'm not some reporter for a news broadcast, I'm not a magazine columnist, I am just simply a 13 year old girl, who is a fan of Michael Joseph Jackson. A name that to some stings when they say it, and to other it's as sweet as candy. I guess I should start off by saying how I first got to love Michael. I was only 2 years old, I saw the Oprah interview that he did back in 1993. I have always loved to dance and perform. So I was naturally drawn to a man of such grace, style, and talent. Up until I was 8 years old, I was a die-hard fan. Then I got caught up in the manufactured "Pop". Then this year, after the so called "Documentary" Michael did with Bashir, I loved him again. I re-discovered the charm, the magic, the mysteriousness I had loved when I was a child. After that, I wanted to know more. I wanted to discover the true Michael Jackson. Not the mean, disgusting, child obsessed, pedophile the media portrayed. But instead the performer, the dancer, the person who changed music as we know it. So of course I started to learn about his childhood, or what he had of it. As most of you know Michael was born in Gary Indiana. He had an abusive father, a mother who loved him, and 9 other brothers and sisters. He was part of the hit group "The Jackson 5". Which produced WONDERFUL music. But when I listen to it, I almost feel guilty. Because I'm listening to a song which he had to spend hours recording. When instead he could have been playing basketball, riding his bike, gorging on chocolate bars, what "normal" children do. But no, he was in the studio recording music. Now, when you hear Michael talking about his childhood, don't laugh and say he has millions now, he doesn't need to complain. He truly did not have a childhood. How would you have felt? Off The Wall, his first solo album. People thought was going to bomb. They thought Michael Jackson wasn't anything without Jacky,Jermaine,Tito,Marlon, and later on Randy A.K.A The Jackson 5. But he proved them wrong. And produced classic such as "Don't Stop Till You Get Enough", "Rock With You", and so on. Then came the MONSTER hit "Thriller", it was and still is the biggest selling record of ALL time. With over 60 million records to it's name. With almost the whole album being hit singles, it is one of the best, if not the best album of all time. With this album also came the VH1 voted best video of all time "Thriller", which many agree with that title for "Thriller". Also with it came the Moonwalk. A dance step that has revolutionized dancing EVERYWHERE. The Moonwalk and Thriller have yet to be topped. Nor do I think it ever will be. He also BROKE another RECORD by winning the most Grammies. A record yet to be broken. Then came "Bad". Another ground-breaking hit. With hits that include "Bad", "Man In The Mirror", and "Leave Me Alone" among several. Then Dangerous. My personal favorite. A wonderful album that produced the most-watched-video ever. "Black or White" with over 500 million viewers worldwide. Also with that video came controversy over the ending. Which included Michael smashing car windows, grabbing his crotch, and dancing what some called "Provocatively". That blew over. But a few years later, something happened. That has yet to just blow over or go away. 1993, the year that almost destroyed Michael Jackson. The year a 13-year-old boy and his father claimed Michael had sexually abused him. The boy (referred as JC) had sleepovers with Michael, stayed at his Neverland ranch, and was even going to go on tour with Michael. I'm not going to sit here and say "Oh my god, if you don't believe Michael is innocent, I am going to like hit you. Like oh my gosh". I am going to give you PROOF Michael was FRAMED! The boy's father a dentist, had always wanted to be a movie writer. He HATED being a dentist. His son,JC, was a HUGE Michael fan. So when Michael went to a local car-repair place JC got to meet him. The boy loved Michael. Adored him, worshiped him, admired him. Later after a few calls. They started visiting. Then they started having INNOCENT sleepovers. The boy's father had a plan about FRAMING Michael almost from the get-go. He had paid people, that when he said "Go" the people JC's dad paid would make allegations against him. So later (just to let you know JC's mom and dad had split) JC's father took JC for a weekend. But it lasted much longer than that. That's when the allegations started to surface. JC said nothing happened but his dad went along with the allegations anyway. So one day Michael,JC, and JC's dad met. JC's dad read Michael the allegations. And JC looked up at Michael, with a look like "I didn't ever say that". Then at one time JC's dad went up to Michael and said "I'm going to ruin you.". He said that while staring straight into Michael's eyes. The ONLY time JC even said Michael did anything inappropriate was while he was under anesthesia while a dentist worked on his teeth. But it just so happens that his dad was in the room with him, and the dentist performing the work was a "friend" of JC's dad. So that whole thing is VERY iffy. They later settled for money, some speculate around 20 million dollars. We can't be sure. But in my opinion and MILLIONS others, Michael Jackson was framed. After a few years went by, Michael had captivated the world again. It was "OK" to like Michael Jackson. HIStory was released in 1995. A huge success, had hits such as "You Are Not Alone","Earth Song", and also the duet he did with his sister,Janet, the song was called "Scream". Later came Blood On The Dance Floor, a CD that has lots of remixes plus 5 new songs. That would be his last album until 2001. The next CD was "Invincible". That was around the time Sony and Michael were having MAJOR problems. So the CD really didn't have any major promotions. The single "You Rock My World" was released. The video included 2 big stars. Chris Tucker and Marlon Brando. Some people call his album a "flop" but I really don't see how it was a "flop" when it sold 10 million copies and went to number 1? Another subject I would like to hit is everyone TRYING to crown Justin Timberlake the "New King Of Pop". This goes back to people calling Invincible a "flop". They called Justin's CD a hit but it only sold half of what Invincible did. But yet Michael's was a flop? Hmmm...... Yes, Justin can dance and sing good. But he's no King Of Pop! No one will ever take that away from Michael. What I think is funny, is that Elvis is the crowned "King Of Rock and Roll", do you see the media crowning,oh, Kid Rock or someone like that "The New King Of Rock and Roll"? No you don't. Do you see the media saying Brittany Spears or Christina Aguilera is the new Madonna? No you don't. My point is the media obviously wants Michael Jackson to be gone, erased from peoples minds. Now, lets explore what happened in Berlin. The famed "Baby Dangling". For one thing the child was not "dangled" off the balcony. He was held. Secondly the media and news broadcast slowed the tape down. That is a hard fact. Even someone who hates Michael knows that. He got caught up in the hype, the excitement, the pressure of the moment. Yes I agree it was a HUGE mistake. But he apologized, he realizes what kind of mistake it was. He would never intentionally hurt his child, or any child for that matter. And then Law & Order, decided to bring it up again with a episode "ripped from the headlines" as they like to call it. Except this time the person dropped the baby and killed it. Why do they want to bring something up that was over with a few months ago? Then Martin Bashir, did an interview with the King Of Pop. Michael, thinking it would boost his image, agreed to do an interview. It was one of the sleaziest, most horrible 2 hours of television I have ever seen. What that man did to Michael was distasteful and flat out horrible. He took it out of context beyond belief. He also edited it to HIS pleasure. After that a following take 2 interview came along. "The footage you were never meant to see". Just as big of a hit as the "Living With Michael Jackson" special Bashir did. The take two interview included interviews with Michael's ex-wife Debbie, his Father Joseph, Mother Katherine, and Brother Jermaine Jackson. I personally liked the TV special. But obviously it didn't stop Jay Leno and several other people from making fun of him. What Michael Jackson has endured in his 44 years of life, have been exciting, amazing, magical, genius, but most of all he has endured scandal and lies. So the next time the media serves Michael Jackson up on a silver platter for you and MILLIONS others like yourself to dissect, pick at, and investigate, you remember that it's the same person from Gary Indiana. The 5 year old who's parents and family had a dream. The 24 to 25 year old that Moonwalked his way into our hearts, the 33-34 year old who had to go through hell in 1993, the 44 year old who has 3 children. The next time you think about making fun of Michael Jackson, you just think what it would be like to be him. Leave Him Alone. Erin |
