The Macedon Ranges is only a short drive from Melbourne, the capital city of the state of Victoria, and even closer to Melbourne International Airport.
The Macedon Ranges has become famous for the magnificent gardens on Mount Macedon which have over many decades become the showpiece of European style hill station properties with the most amazing array of flora and fauna. Many of these gardens are open to the public at various times of the year.
Our wineries are unsurpassed with a stunning range of wines to suit all palates, and having been the recipient of more awards than many other areas, we quite proudly consider ourselves as a true wine country area that is now recognised worldwide as an official Wine Region.
History abounds in the Macedon Ranges. Being on the route to the goldfields in the 1800's, the early miners trekked their way through this area and left stories aplenty that still generate interest to this day.
And what about Hanging Rock! Well there's an intriguing story. Whilst the book and movie "Picnic at Hanging Rock" may be considered by some to be just a story, many locals are not so sure and a visit to the famous Hanging Rock Reserve will not only get you thinking, but also provide you with a most magnificent day out.
All the towns and villages in the Macedon Ranges are steeped in history and all will make you most welcome. Ask the locals about the stories of Black Panthers roaming in the hills! Fact or fiction? who knows.....

February of each year sees the now famous MACEDON RANGES GRAND TOUR, a classic motoring event for classic and vintage cars and motorcycles. This event which is proudly sposored by many major companies, takes in the beautiful Macedon Ranges driving experience and everybody loves a drive in the country.
